Introducing My Agent: Laura Nolan

In a surprise twist ending, I have found the agent for my book about Radicondoli: Laura Nolan of the Creative Culture inc. I was coming to New York for a visit and contacted the agent who had been considering my book since last fall. That agent wrote back the same day to let me know she was changing careers and leaving the agency. She kindly turned me over to her colleague, Laura Nolan, who works with food narrative, food memoirs and cookbooks, and loves Italian food and culture. Of course I looked her up on Publisher’s Marketplace beforehand, and noted that she is a hardworking, aggressive agent with a track record for success in selling her author’s books. Soon, a meeting was arranged and my pages were in her email in-box.

On the afternoon of our meeting, Laura impressed me immediately with her quick, comprehensive grasp of my travel and food memoir-in-progress, IL CAMPO: Savoring LIfe in My Tuscan Village. Over peppermint tea she deftly steered me away from the limited approach I had taken in writing my first draft to a much more dynamic, thrilling vision for the book and my writing career. Her promptness in responding to my writing, her ability to identify the soul of the work and help me creatively engage with the vision for my book were masterful. She is a wonderful, hands-on agent with an understanding of her role as editor, creative shepherd and career coach. I am confident that in her hands, my book and the sweet, unspoiled village it embodies will find its finest form and truest voice and reach its widest possible audience. I am delighted beyond words to be working with this terrific agent.
