Podere Giogliano is a charming three star hotel on a white gravel road just below the village on the south slope. The grounds feature a large, inviting pool, fruit and nut trees and lots of quiet spots to while away the hours with a book or a loved one. Inexpensive, in the middle of the fields, rustic but comfortable, off an unpaved private road right below Radicondoli. Il Bel Canto B & B is a newly restored stone farmhouse with four classy apartments designed and decorated by the artistically gifted proprietor, Alessandra Panzieri and her husband Horst. Reasonably priced and open to group packages. A cooking school will soon be opening on the premises based on Marlane’s book, Il Campo: Savoring Life in My Tuscan Village. Podere La Fonte is a lovely, rustic working farm on the slopes just below Casa Illuminata. There are three apartments and also two rooms for rent within the main house. Manuela will cook for guests on request. If you don’t stay here, go visit the cantina and buy some of Manuela and Marco’s wine, preserves and olive oil—exquisite! Click here to visit Podere La Fonte

Podere Costarella is a beautifully restored farmhouse with five spacious apartments set in the woods below Falsini Castle, a ten minute drive from Radicondoli center. The owners have painstakingly preserved the historic details of this authentically Tuscan property. Large airy light-filled rooms, comfortable and tastefully furnished, invite guests to linger rather than go sight-seeing. Great for retreats, cooking classes, cycling groups, family reunions and weddings. Borghetto Poggio Bianco and Villa Santa Croce are two stunning properties in the forest above Falsini Castle, 15 and 20 minutes respectively away from Radicondoli center. The Borghetto has 12 gorgeous, newly renovated apartments, a central pool and meeting room with kitchen, views of Radicondoli, Belforte and the castle as well as dreamy landscapes of forest and valley. This would be a fabulous site for a family reunion or wedding, or for groups of friends who want to be together but in separate apartments. The Santa Croce Villa, another five minutes up the hill on a gravel road, looks like a model home for Ralph Lauren. If you want an impressive, romantic retreat in the forest, and have access to a four-wheel-drive vehicle, this is your place.

Colletalli is a spacious, authentic Tuscan farmhouse lovingly restored by its owner, Luana Vagagini. Ortone is a two bedroom apartment with private entrance below a stone farmhouse about a ten minute drive on gravel road below the village of Radicondoli. Il Colombaiolo is a restored Tuscan farmhouse with three very comfortable, tastefully furnished apartments. The pool is large and the views spectacular. Situated at the end of a gravel drive off the road leading out of the village to the west, a fifteen minute walk into the center of Radicondoli or a five minute drive. Le Bolli is an elegant, grand noble house situated at the end of a stately drive through an olive grove about a ten minute drive from the village center. Accommodates large groups only at variable weekly rates starting at around 7,000 Euros a week. Sleeps up to 26 people and would be ideal for a wedding. Click here to visit Le Bolli

Villa Pignano is a fully restored high Renaissance villa with rooms that will make you feel like royalty reborn. Situated in a utopian community in an old borgho outside of Volterra (approximately 40 minutes north and west of Radicondoli), run by a group of about twenty men and women with the intention to create a fully sustainable lifestyle. They have their own Montessori style school, yoga and other movement classes, art classes and the opportunity to actually stay and work on the land. All building materials are ecologically sound with an eye to leaving a zero carbon footprint. The rooms of the main villa are fully restored and authentically decorated—truly luxurious and with unparalleled views.
